Strengthening Safeguarding Through Funder Collaboration
At FSC, we are committed to increasing awareness and understanding of safeguarding and this year, with the help of our partners and members, we are enabling more funders to embed safeguarding by working with networks across the UK to deliver a series of collaborative workshops. We’ll begin in June with the Scotland Funders Safeguarding Lead Network, followed by sessions with the Yorkshire Funders Network in July and Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF) in London in October.
Topics for the sessions will range from an introduction to safeguarding in grant-making to more specific areas such as grant-making with grass roots organisations . Combining evidence‑based insight from FSC research with peer learning, the workshops create space for Members and funders who are not part of the FSC network to explore more deeply their role and responsibilities in safeguarding.
In June and July, the workshops will be followed by a “Safeguarding Café”, facilitated by our UK Safeguarding Advisor, Clair Cooke. These café-style spaces will offer funders a safe, trusted environment to share challenges, queries and experiences with peers providing support and shared learning that can’t always happen in formal settings.
FSC is keen to work with other funder networks who are interested in hosting similar collaborative safeguarding sessions or exploring new ways of learning together.
Are you part of a funder network? We’d love to speak to you about how we can work together to strengthen safeguarding practice, capacity and confidence and create safer organisations. Contact us to explore arranging a free interactive session or safeguarding café for your members
